as they take you around the globe to places where the

Old World Eastern and Central European  Klezmer, meet the
New World Rhythms of folk, ragtime, dixieland, jazz and
even country! This is truly international, continental and
traditional music that is soul-stirring, captivating and uplifting.
Seasoned with sublime and spirited songs in
Yiddish, Hebrew
and
Ladino and you have universally appealing Klezmer-Fusion
played and sung with heart, soul and
Chutzpah.

Now in their 17th year, the "Take the OY Train " ensemble has
participated in many events for the Calgary Folk Arts Council and
Jewish Community Organizations, at 4th Street Lilac Festivals
Rotary Clubs International gatherings, the Taste of the Nations,
the 17th Avenue Gallery and Calorie Tour, Canada and Heritage Days,
the Calgary Folk Music Festival, Maize Days, Variety of Nations and for
Calgary Arts and Culture programs. They have performed at Olympic Plaza,
Calgary City Hall, the Engineered Air Theatre of the Epcor Centre for the
Performing Arts, the Buhran Art and Antiques Gallery, Devonian Gardens,
the Calgary Zoo, Eau Claire Market, Stampede Breakfasts, Prince's Island,
Winter Festival parades, the Leacock Theatre at Mount Royal College,
Telus Convention Centre, the Beat Niq Jazz and Social Club,
the Round-Up Centre and the Calgary Multicultural Centre...
...to name only a very few venues.
They have also been on CBC 1010 Radio and Shaw TV.
On the road,
"Take the OY Train" has been seen many times in
Banff, Canmore, Millarville, Cremona and in Edmonton.

The members of Take the OY Train are individually versatile musical
veterans who perform and have performed with a wide number of well-known
local, national and international acts, thus well versed in all standard
repertoire and popular styles and genres...in addition to an extensive
knowledge of international and continental tunes...
perfect for any dance function and perfect for any themed event!!!
Specialty programs available include
"Kountry Klezmer", great
during Stampede or for rustic, ranch and country-inspired functions.
Also a beautiful
"Festival of Lights" program with a seasonal flair
and special melodies capturing the universal "Joys" and "OY's"
of the Chanukah and Christmas holidays.
What draws and holds this ensemble together is their great love
of
Klezmer Music and the desire to keep this heritage and tradition alive.
